1. Summary
Lords of the Net is an offline-first mobile game. We do not operate user accounts, do not use Google Play Games sign-in, and do not transmit your gameplay or health data to our servers — the app does not upload step counts, save files, or personal information over the internet.
To play, the app asks for permission to read step count data from Health Connect and/or your device’s activity sensor. That data is used only on your device to advance in-game turns. You are prompted for these permissions through Android and Health Connect before the game uses them; this use is core to how LOTN works and is within your reasonable expectation when you choose to play.
2. Developer and scope
Lords of the Net is published on Google Play by the developer named on the app’s store
listing. This policy applies to the LOTN Android app and pages at
godsofangling.com/lotn/. LOTN is a sister project to
Gods of Angling, developed by the same team.
This policy works together with in-app permission prompts and disclosures shown when you start or continue playing. Those prompts explain that step data is needed for gameplay.
3. Health and fitness data (steps)
LOTN reads aggregated step counts — not GPS location, heart rate, weight, or other health categories. Step data is used only to credit in-game turns. It is not used for advertising, medical advice, fitness coaching, or profiling.
Sources (with your permission):
- Health Connect — read-only access to step totals via Android’s Health Connect APIs, including optional catch-up reads when you return to the app after being away;
- Device activity sensor — on-device step counter while the app is open, when activity recognition permission is granted; and
- Optional background health read — only if you grant the separate Health Connect background permission, so step totals can update when the app is not in the foreground.
The app does not write health data back to Health Connect. It does not call the Google Fit API directly. Other apps (such as Google Fit) may sync steps into Health Connect on your device; LOTN only reads from Health Connect locally and does not control third-party sync behavior.
No transmission: Step counts and related gameplay calculations stay on your device. We do not send step or health data to our servers or to third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud-backup services.
4. Other data stored on your device
LOTN stores the following locally in app-private storage (for example, JSON save files):
- Game progress — level, inventory, quests, settings, and similar gameplay state;
- Hero name you choose when creating a character (fictional, not verified identity);
- Step baselines, pending step credits, and daily play statistics derived from local step reads;
- A timestamp used to calculate step catch-up when you reopen the app; and
- App version and device time for local game logic (daily resets, compatibility).
This data is not synced to the cloud and is not linked to an online account, because LOTN does not offer accounts or sign-in.
5. What we do not collect or do
Lords of the Net does not:
- Require or offer user accounts, registration, or Google Play Games sign-in;
- Sell personal or sensitive user data;
- Use third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs that collect your data;
- Offer in-app purchases or process payments inside the app;
- Upload save files, step data, or diagnostics to our servers;
- Access contacts, SMS, call logs, microphone, camera, or precise location; or
- Collect your legal name, email, or phone number unless you voluntarily email us for support.
6. Android permissions
Depending on your device and settings, LOTN may request:
- Health Connect — Steps (read) — required for step-based gameplay and catch-up;
- Physical activity / activity recognition — for the on-device step sensor while playing;
- Read health data in background (optional) — for Health Connect updates while the app is not open; and
- Ignore battery optimizations (optional) — so Health Connect and related services can stay updated in the background; you may decline and still play with reduced catch-up convenience.
You can revoke permissions at any time in Android settings and in the Health Connect app. If step access is revoked, step-based progression will stop until permission is granted again.
7. How we use information
We use the data described above solely to:
- Run LOTN and save your progress on your device;
- Convert permitted step reads into in-game turns;
- Restore your game when you reopen the app; and
- Respond to support emails you send us voluntarily.
8. How we share information
We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. Because gameplay and step data remain on your device, we do not routinely share your information with third parties for marketing, analytics, or cloud processing.
We may disclose information only if required by law, court order, or to protect safety and legal rights. Google Play distributes the app; Google’s handling of store and device data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
9. Storage, security, retention, and deletion
Storage: All LOTN data described in this policy is stored locally in the app’s private storage on your device, protected by Android’s application sandbox.
Security: We do not operate a backend that receives your game or health data. Standard device protections (screen lock, OS updates) help protect local files.
Retention: Data is kept on your device until you delete it. Daily statistics may roll off after a limited on-device history window. There are no server copies to delete.
Deletion: Because LOTN has no accounts, delete your data by clearing the app’s storage in Android settings or uninstalling the app. That removes local saves and step-related game state. Revoke Health Connect access separately in system settings if you wish to stop the app from reading new steps.
10. Children’s privacy
LOTN is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction without parental consent). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has contacted us with personal information, email privacy@godsofangling.com.
11. Your choices
- Grant or deny step and activity permissions when prompted;
- Change permissions later in Android settings and Health Connect;
- Clear app data or uninstall to remove local saves; and
- Contact us with privacy questions at privacy@godsofangling.com.
12. Google Play Data safety
Our Google Play Data safety section must match this policy. For LOTN, that generally means declaring collection of fitness / health information (steps) and app activity (gameplay saves), processed on-device for app functionality, not shared with third parties, and not sold. Update the form if the app changes.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes may be noted in the Google Play listing or in-app where appropriate.
